Pair of Fine English Antique His and Her Stick Back Windsor Chairs Yew and Elm

A gorgeous and rare pair of English ‘His & Her’ Windsor chairs in really lovely condition. Wonderfully crafted and showing beautiful colour, age and grain, this super pair will make a stunning addition to any interior. 
 
A particularly fine pair, these are difficult to age, though we think they were likely made in the early 20th Century in England and could well be older antiques as this particular style of Windsor chair goes back to the early 1700s. 
 
Beautifully crafted from English Elm & Yew woods, they have stunning single-piece solid Elm saddle seats showing wonderful grain, delightfully flattened and curved hooped backs with tapering ‘stick back’ spindles, ornately turned tapering legs and standout beautifully curved crinoline stretchers. 
 
Stick backs are our favourite type of Windsor chair for their simplicity and versatility and this is a really exceptional pair, even more so for their crinoline stretchers and rare ‘his and her’ sizing, making them a wonderful pair for dining and occasional use, to suit any setting.
 
CONDITION
These are in very-good-to-excellent condition. Structurally sound and beautifully crafted, they have lovely colouring and only the to-be-expected minor marks and bumps to show their age. Overall they’re a fantastic pair in really lovely condition and if well looked after should remain so for many more decades, if not centuries, to come – please see the photos.
