Italian Black Leather Horn Lounge Chair Mid Century Modernist Space Age MCM
A gorgeous and very rare Mid Century style leather lounge chair in wonderful condition. Likely made in Italy in the late 20th Century as a modern take on the iconic Horn chair by Karpen of California, this fabulously stylish and effortlessly comfortable easy chair oozes quality, sculptural Modernist lines, Space-Age wow-factor and will sure to be a knockout in any setting.
Dazzling and elegantly sculptural, it's super-comfy with a large seat and wide back. Crafted without a single straight line, it’s finished in superb quality black piped, semi-distressed leather.
Beautifully curved throughout and with a wonderful ‘horn’ back, this fantastic remodelling of the Horn chair is more forgiving and somehow even more satisfying on the eye than the Karpen original, as it displays less-sharp angles and has a more substantial fabulous wrap-around horn back.
The large plump cushion with aerated holes to the underside sits proudly atop the seat and the curved and tapering wooden legs are capped with eye-catching brass sabot feet, which really set this chair off beautifully.
All in all this is a superb, stunning and super-stylish leather chair, which will add eye-catching quality and an effortlessly chic Mid Century aesthetic to any setting. Extremely rare, we’ve only seen one other pair, which are marketed for over £13.5K in lesser condition, so grab this beautiful bargain while you can.
CONDITION
This is in very-good-to-excellent condition. Beautifully crafted, reassuringly heavy and structurally sound, it has only the most minor and hard-to-notice signs of its age and use and the leather has been treated and polished to keep it rejuvenated. Overall it's a gorgeous, rare and incredibly stylish chair in wonderful condition and if well looked after it should be just as fabulous for generations to come – please see the photos.
