Antique Lancashire Dresser Base Pine 1850 Farmhouse Sideboard Blonde Victorian

Antique Lancashire Dresser Base Pine 1850 Farmhouse Sideboard Blonde Victorian

A stunningly attractive, very rare and hugely versatile mid-19th Century English pine dresser base in wonderful, restored condition. Made around 1840-60 in Lancashire, this extremely useful piece works in a variety of ways and rooms and will add gorgeous blonde colouring and a wonderfully decorative aesthetic of bygone craftsmanship to any interior.

Traditionally crafted from excellent quality solid pine wood displaying lovely grain patterning and rich golden hues, this standout piece is especially rare for having so many wonderful flourishes of delightful carving throughout. But even with so much eye-catching detail on display, it still manages to perfectly retain its genuine rustic farmhouse charm as a highly usable, everyday piece of furniture.

Expertly crafted and wonderful for storage and display purposes, this dresser base has a central cupboard as well as six drawers, including the beautifully shapely upper pair of roll-fronted drawers, which really make a standout impression with their stunning curves and fabulous grain patterning. The substantial, chunky base frame is raised on six sizable turned ball feet and extends to the front corners, forming two tiered plinths to support the impressive and wonderfully decorative turned columns, which flank the front and cast a great impression.

It has panelled sides with charming mitre-jointed border detailing, which match the front central cupboard, and a large inset plank top with a lovely extending tiered border. Further examples of the excellent craftsmanship can be seen in rounded edging, the dovetail-jointed drawers, the charming detail of the turned columns flanking the central cupboard and the classic pine bun handles which, now painted black, juxtapose wonderfully against the golden hues of the rest of the piece.

Impressively sized, this fantastic piece started its life as the base section of a English dresser and now really stands out as a fabulous and great looking antique sideboard, kitchen or console cabinet, buffet, or whatever you choose to use and enjoy it as.

All in all this is a wonderful, versatile and hugely decorative 19th Century dresser base, which will enhance any setting with its gorgeous colouring and superbly decorative traditional craftsmanship.
